The price reached roughly $1.66, reversing the previous week's decline.
A week earlier, XRP finished near $1.37, down approximately 3.1%. That represents a nearly 20-percentage-point swing in weekly performance.

What Drove the Move
Derivatives played a major role. Around $300 million in XRP short positions were reportedly liquidated, forcing bearish traders to buy back positions and adding momentum to the rally.
Institutional flows were less aggressive. XRP-related ETF inflows were around $10–19 million per week in September, compared with an August daily peak of roughly $28 million.
The 16.8% rally was supported by short liquidations, while institutional inflows remained below their August peak.
XRP Ledger Technical Specs
XRP operates on the XRP Ledger (XRPL), which uses a validator-based consensus protocol instead of proof-of-work mining.
| Specification | XRP Ledger |
| Native asset | XRP |
| Consensus | XRPL Consensus Protocol |
| Ledger close time | ~3–5 seconds |
| Active validators | 120+ |
| Mining | None |
| Native DEX | Yes |
| Asset support | XRP + issued/tokenized assets |
XRPL closes ledgers approximately every 3–5 seconds and has more than 120 active validators. Ripple has also demonstrated roughly 1,000 transactions per second in benchmark testing, although this is not a guaranteed real-world throughput figure.
The key change is momentum: XRP moved from −3.1% to +16.8% week-over-week, outperforming the rest of the crypto top 10.
